OpenAI's Scarlett Letter: A New Era in AI Technology Gets Put On Hold For Now

OpenAI has launched a groundbreaking AI voice assistant which if you are to believe the ‘headlines’ was NOT modeled after actor Scarlett Johansson. This innovative technology promised to revolutionise the way we interact with AI, offering a more natural and engaging user experience. However Johansson’s lawyers wrote a letter to OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman and the new voice has been removed from the app temporarily until it is determined whether or not they do a deal with Ms Johansson or fight it out in the courts.

Altman had been courting the Marvel actor for a number of months prior to the launch of ‘Sky’ within ChatGPT 40 only for the many offers to rejected. Scarlett Johansson had previously voiced the Artificial Intelligence in the Joaquin Phoenix lead movie ‘Her’.

Having used the new voice  technology ‘Sky’ for myself, I can’t really hear the “Black Widow’s” dulcet tones. As a regular, if not daily user of ChatGPT I have got used to the ‘Juniper’ voice when interacting with the AI.

I have even gone as far as to nickname my ChatGPT ‘Gen’ for Generative as I use it a lot to create images and research for my YouTube Channel and website.
